Is it worth using Quidco?

To me, Quidco is like a verb. “Did you Quidco it?” I’ll ask my friends when they talk about an expensive purchase. It’s often met with a blank look, and I’m equally perplexed, wondering how they haven’t heard of Quidco! 

Well, it’s an easy way to get money back on your purchases almost every time you spend – though that money isn’t always guaranteed.

Quidco Cashback Review 2024

This article is based on several years of personal experience and just over £5,500 of cashback rewards earned since joining the site in 2016. I love bargains and am a major advocate of anything that helps consumers get the best deals.

There are several main cashback websites in the UK, and the biggest of all are Quidco.com and Topcashback.co.uk. Consumers like me have regularly used cashback websites for around 10 years, and these sites have been around in the UK for over 15 years.

In this article, I’ll share some personal insights into my Quidco experiences and some background to explain how everything works. The big question that everyone asks is, “Do these websites work, or are they fake and potentially risky?”

How does it work?

Let’s say you want home broadband from O2. At the time of writing, O2 will pay QuidCo £50 for sign-ups to home broadband.  Search for O2 on Quidco and click on the result to view O2 home broadband (there’s a separate page for O2’s mobile products).

You’re then given a button to click, which will take you to O2’s online store. However, by clicking the link from QuidCo, a temporary cookie is put on your computer that tells O2, when you complete the checkout process, that you came from QuidCo. After a couple of days or so, a credit (of £50 in this example) will show up in your Quidco account. Once this clears, you can transfer it to your bank account.

That really is all there is to it. There are no crazy pop-ups, no abrasive ads for gambling, and no ads for hot girls in your area. You could even find the deal you want via something like MoneySupermarket, then visit that company via Qui dco and snag the commission for yourself (I did that for my last gas and electric contract—with Scottish Power—which bagged me about £60).

Sequence advises Quidco on its £101m proposed sale to Moneysupermarket.com Group plc.

Sequence is pleased to announce that it has advised Quidco on its proposed sale to Moneysupermarket.com Group plc. Quidco is the second largest cashback business in the UK, with around one million transacting users. It offers cashback at over 4,500 merchants, including retail, travel, and switching services.

This transaction reaffirms Sequence as the leading adviser to digital companies in the comparison and rewards market in the UK. Sequence has also advised Know Your Money, MoneySavingExpert, Money.co.uk, Look After My Bills, Runpath, and many other leading digital companies on their transactions.

You still get the going cashback rate for that brand.

If you were planning on spending on something, and you can get that something through Qu idco, it makes this deal a cast-iron no-brainer. For example, if you’re new to both Quidco and Waitrose home delivery, and you spend at least £40, you’ll get the £8 cashback Quidco currently offers on spending that at Waitrose AND the extra £28 cashback, so you’d get a total of £36 back. Not to be sniffed at.

No spending planned? Not a problem

You can still bag the extra cashback by spending the £5 minimum on something you’ll use at some point. For example, you can get three rolls of Santa wrapping paper from Argos or a winter warmer suet cake for wild birds from B&Q for a fiver. Delivery costs don’t count towards the £5 minimum spend and will eat into your cashback, so check if the retailer offers free click & collect at a store nearby before you spend.

There are some exclusions.

Some retailers, providers, products, and services are excluded from this deal, including those in finance, insurance, and telecoms. Before spending a penny, check the list below under ‘More info.’
